Project Management

Workshop Organization and Report Writing for Healthy Veterans, Healthy Forests project

Amala Consulting organized a workshop for Cornell Cooperative Extension of Columbia and Greene Counties (CCE-CG). The workshop brought together government officials, academics, and industry representatives who worked together to determine the feasibility of and possible plan for a Veteran Logger Training Program. Amala Consulting produced a professional report summarizing the findings of the process.

Project Management for Website Update

Amala Consulting worked as a project manager for the Rensselaer Land Trust (RLT) to coordinate and update the redesign of their new website.  We assessed content to determine its fit into the new framework, writing and developing new content, and provided the overall project management by working with the web designer and organization's committee.

Community Conservation Planning in Ek'Balam, Mexico

Amala Consulting, in collaboration with the Foundation for Development of Sustainable Societies, planned and facilitated three days of community workshops to kick off a series of community conservation projects in the Mayan community of Ek'Balam Mexico. These workshops provided community members with a chance to brainstorm and prioritize project ideas, while also developing a set of short term and long term conservation goals for their community.

Town Engagement on the Rensselaer Plateau

Amala Consulting provided project management expertise to aid the Rensselaer Plateau Alliance in engaging town officials.  Through organization of meetings, presentations and workshops, the Rensselaer Plateau town officials became more familiar with the work of this conservation organization.

Community Forest on the Rensselaer Plateau

Amala Consulting provided project management expertise to aid the Rensselaer Plateau Alliance (RPA) in their goal of facilitating the establishment of a community forest on the Rensselaer Plateau.  We aided in stakeholder engagement and public meeting organization, and we wrote the RPA's Community Forest Plan.  A Community Forest is a community-managed forested area owned by a municipality or another organization that provides benefits to the local community, such as management for timber harvesting, educational programs for adults and children, and recreational opportunities. The RPA now owns and manages the first official Community Forest in New York State.

Woods Forums on the Rensselaer Plateau

Amala Consulting provided project management expertise and facilitation services to aid the Rensselaer Plateau Alliance in conducting Woods Forums on the Rensselaer Plateau.  From start to finish, we organized public workshops from booking venues to marketing to faciliatation. These Woods Forums provided a platform for community members (private forest landowners) and for public and elected officials to become educated about conservation and sustainable forest management.
